ACAV Reaches 700 Members!

Member Communication sent 29 June 2019:

Thank You from the ACAV Interim Committee!!

Thank you, thank you and thank you! The ACAV Interim Committee would like to thank the rock climbing community for its support. As of  today, Saturday 29 June, ACAV celebrates its 700th individual member!

This now positions ACAV as the largest single body representing climbers, licensed tour operators and climbing businesses in Victoria. We also proudly recognize that the New South Wales, South Australian and Tasmanian chapters of the ACA are in the process of being established. In addition to the established Victoriand and Queensland chapters, this will soon position the ACA as the preeminent body for issues relating to climbing access in Australia.

ACAV will also be doing a membership drive in gyms across Melbourne starting Monday 1 July. Members of the Interim Committee will be assisted by our generous volunteers to try and drive our membership base into even higher numbers. Please spread the word to anyone who is not a member and to look out for us! We will also be there to answer any of your queries.

ACAV has also received generous donations directly to the Climbing Access Fund, notably from climbing businesses and individuals who are committed to ensuring access for our future generations. We thank our supporters greatly for their generosity.

There is certainly a steep road ahead for our community with the significant bans to climbing in the Grampians and the imminent threat to our beloved Mount Arapiles. The ACAV is working across multiple layers to address the current bans and to preempt any further bans or access issues. A summary strategy document is available on the ACAV website here

A reminder that the first ACAV Annual General Meeting is scheduled for Thursday 11 July. Nominations for the ACAV committee positions are open. This is the forum where the first ACAV Committee will be elected. This committee will take ACAV forward in the critical work ahead. More details about the AGM and Nominations can be found on the ACAV website here

Finally, thank you to our Queensland colleagues at ACAQ for their support in getting ACAV up and running and for the collaboration and partnership which we are proud to be a part of.

Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions about the ACAV via our contact form on our website.
Once again, thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
Interim ACAV Committee
